    Dr. Barbara Kirch, DVM

    Dr. Kirch is the Hospital Director of The Cat Hospital of Durham and Chapel Hill. A Chicago native, Dr. Kirch attended the University of Illinois for her undergraduate work, and North Carolina State University for her veterinary training. After working in a small animal general practice in Durham, NC and in Alexandria, VA, Dr. Kirch joined The Cat Hospital part-time in January 2004 and then full-time in June 2004. Dr. Kirch's professional interests include feline dentistry and the special needs of older cats.
    Dr. Kirch and her husband, a professor at Duke University, live in Durham and share their home with their son and their cat named Sam. In her leisure time, Dr. Kirch enjoys cooking, running, and traveling

    Rob, Assistance Staff

    Rob started working at the Cat Hospital in May 2002 and provides a friendly and familiar face for cats and clients alike. Originally hailing from sunny California, Rob has set up a happy home that's lorded over by Salem, resident feline matriarch. Other household companions include a loyal tripod (Speedy), a bob-tailed juvenile and a flier turtle named Geezer.

    Carrie, Assistance Staff

    Carrie is one of our newer acquisitions and a transplant from Queens, NY. Carrie brings extensive animal care experience and is a certified phlebotomist. She enjoys cooking for her extended family, gardening, and reading in her rare spare moments. Carrie's household critters include two dogs (Brutus the beefcake eater), Girly and three cats (Mercury, William, Bebe).

    Varina is our newest smiling face though she is no novice when it comes to feline medicine. Varina has 8 years experience working in the veterinary field and is a long time foster and event host for I.A.R. (a local rescue group). Varina opens her home to animals from all walks of life and tries to help mend broken bones and spirits so they can find forever homes.

    Gray, Reception Staff

    Gray is a Durham native and an established animal rescue aficionado in the community. She has been a receptionist at The Cat Hospital for five years and continues to enjoy interacting with our clients. She is a tried and true animal lover and shares her home with her faithful dog (Parker), a finicky Burmese (Lexi) and an assortment of feathered friends.

    WRay, Support Staff

    WRay is our weekend and holiday savior. He can be found here every weekend helping us take care of our feline friends. WRay is a true animal lover. When he is not busy at his day job, he volunteers with Safe Haven for Cats. In his spare time after volunteering, WRay hosts trivia night at Tomato Jake's. He currently shares his home with three loving feline companions (Anime, Calliope and Pickles).
